This past week has been so amazing with all of the great things that God has done at tides and will continue to do. We have made many strides on the new building, Vacation Bible School was a huge success with 30 brand new commitments for Christ. TBN was powerful and it was amazing to give God all of the glory for everything that He has done in our family! Last week didn’t come without it’s warfare though. Whenever there is a great work of God moving there is opposition! We had trouble with the school district because our custodian quit in the beginning of the week. I had such a difficult time dealing with one person in particular over there that really tested my Grace meter! We had trouble with the city getting approval for a much needed permit. To top it off we lost a very beloved brother named Christopher Laurie son to Pastor Greg Laurie in a car accident on the 91 freeway last thursday the 24th of July. Since then God has been faithful and we have restored a relationship with our custodian Johnny. He is a neat man who loves the Lord and we are so blessed to have him as a friend and co-worker for the cause of Christ. We are working on the district and the city. Hopefully in 45 short days or so we can eliminate both challenges by moving into an amazing facility of our own!
Come out this week for the next installment of Hostage where we address the topic of Anger. See you all on Sunday!
Date 7.5.08
NEW SERVICE TIMES 9:00AM AND 10:45AM
Where do I start? Am I excited about tides church right now? Only more excited then I have ever been! Today we had our first ever 4th of July Golf Tourney put on by Mason Bragg our Summer Intern. This Summer Mason is focusing on sports outreach and youth and so far has done a great job. We had 24 men attend the tournament who are either from tides or who were invited by a friend. Of course you know who’s team won but there’s no sense in announcing the obvious in order to retain some humility. All friendly fun that’s what I always say (wink).
BUILDING UPDATE! The City has moved up our August 5th Conditional Use Permit hearing to July 15th. What that means is that we could prayerfully be approved earlier so that we can get into our new facility to make the necessary improvments for a September 1st move in date. My goodness I can’t believe that we are getting so close. Please do not stop praying, we are trusting God for an amazing annointing on our church to reach this city and beyond for the power of Christ!
Remember we were created to enjoy each other through a supernatural realationship in Jesus Christ. This Summer take some time in between services to connect with someone new or someone you see all the time. Starting this week we are bringing back the TIKI VILLAGE filled with ice cold drinks and chilling refreshment to off set the summer heat. Buy the kids a shaved ice with any flavor of the rainbow to create the feeling of being on the shores of MAUI! Whatever service you choose, come early or stay late, just have fun! We have two more weeks of Habakkuk so take them all in as we explore real life picking up this week in Chapter 2.
Keep Smiling, Bryan
